Literature Text

Apple Greg was a small little lad
Who was the happiest kid his parents ever had
They brought him many different kinds of fruit
And he ate them as if they were his favorite food
Cherries, apples, bananas and plums
Made little Greg utter the word “yum!”
Kiwis, peaches, oranges and berries
Made little Greg so happy and merry
He continued to enjoy his favorite fruit
Until that fateful day that turned happy Greg blue
His father was a smoker of many cigarettes
Camels and Marlboros to him were the very best
Little did he know or care
That there was poison and nicotine in Greg’s air
The secondhand smoke killed his taste buds
And that was the end of his years of fun
Greg was very sad indeed
He’d cry and sob in his deepest of sleeps
One day, he couldn’t take anymore smoke
He had to do something, for he was at the end of his rope
When his father lit up the next cancer stick
Greg ran up to him and screamed and kicked
A furious assault on his shins and thighs
A furious assault with no end in sight
The smoking father couldn’t take anymore
And ended the fury by slapping Greg to the floor
In the little kid’s mind, that was the final straw
He did something that saddened his ma and pa
Greg packed his things and ran away
He looked for greener and happier place
The father and mother never saw him again
Unfortunately, this is where our story ends
The moral of the story is to put away those smokes
Because cancer isn’t a game or even a joke
This tearjerker was 15 years in the making, folks. I just never found the right words until now.

Huh!
Glad I read it... I haven't looked through anyone's deviations in ages... which is lame.

Anyway, it's really good--smoking is a filthy thing and I hate watching people do it.
